Ways to Serve and be Community
Samaritan Homeless Interim Program--SHIP's Galley
During the summer months, on the third Friday of June, July, August and September, members and friends of Lamington Church will meet at 10:00AM in the Lamington Church kitchen to prepare bag lunches for SHIP's Galley. The bagged lunches will be taken to St. John’s Episcopal Church in Somerville and distributed to the homeless, unemployed, hungry and poor. Lamington Church will serve lunch at St. John’s on: November 15, December 20, January 17, February 21, March 20, April 17, May 15. Six volunteers are needed to help each month. Please call Mary Jenkins at (908) 704-9197 if you can assist with this mission project.
The Samaritan Homeless Interim Program (SHIP), is a vital service to the community, and unfortunately, the need continues to rise. For more information about SHIP’s, checkout their website at www.ships908.com.
Help Feed the Hungry

The Somerset Food Bank is struggling to feed the growing number of local families. Please think about bringing a non-perishable item to church each Sunday, or take a canvas bag from the Gladish Room and return it filled with groceries. This is a wonderful mission project and learning experience for the children of Lamington. Below is a list of items on their wish list. Please leave donations in the Gladish Room; they will be delivered to the Food Bank each week. Wish List: Parmalat Milk, canned:meats—chicken, beef, tuna, soups, veggies, fruits in own juice, boxed stuffing, mac n’ cheese, diapers. Thank you!

Common Threads Ministry

Makers unite! Do you knit? Crochet? Needlework of any kind? Please join us as we kick off another season of Lamington’s Common Treads Ministry.

We need prayer shawls. If you like to knit or crochet but prefer to stay home let us know. We have patterns we can share.

If you have any questions about Common Threads Ministry, please call Dyanne Diaz-Piedra at (908) 442-3544. We would love to have you join us!
STAY TUNED--New dates, times, and meeting locations to be announced.
Interfaith Hospitality Network at Lamington

Besides the shelter and meals provided, on a rotating basis, by local churches and synagogues, IHN provides many direct client services and support. They include individual case management, parenting skills training, life skills training, GED support and mentoring, employment mentoring and searches, child care searches, computer skills training, detailed budget/financial counseling and management, mental and physical health referrals and support.

Other ways you can help: The IHN office in Somerville is in need of many  supplies: toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, dish soap, cleaning supplies, diapers (sizes 4-5-6). Please leave all donations for IHN in the Gladish Room. Also, several IHN families are in need of clothing—both adult and children sizes. Please call Meridith Scott for a complete list of needs and sizes.

PLEASE NOTE: Lamington Church will again be hosting our friends from IHN on Sunday, January 19 to Sunday, January 26, 2020. We will need many volunteers. Please consider helping out and making our guests feel safe and welcome--look for signup sheets in the Gladish Room as the date gets nearer. Please call Meridith Scott if you have any questions at (908) 236-0206.
